Fizz Boom Read! and Spark a Reaction! are this years’ Summer Reading Program themes for children and teens. Ages 1-18 can sign up to track how many days they read this summer, receive prizes just for reading and participate in fun programs. Every part of the summer reading program is FREE. 1. Register online to log what you read this summer starting June 23. The program runs to August 16.
2. Each participant has a reading goal to read 40 days this summer. All participants who complete 40 days of reading will win prizes. For every 10 days of reading completed participants get a prize.
3. This year we have set a total reading goal for the program to read 6,000 days by all participants.
4. New for 2014- Refer a Friend Program- Any participant who refers a friend who joins the program will receive an extra prize. Any participant who refers 5 friends who join the program will receive a gift card. SIZZLING AFTERNOON STORIES - Fairy tales, folktales, tall-tales and more.… Come join us as Miss Phyllis reads some favorites to elementary aged kids! Next session Monday, August 18th at 4:00 pm. Registration suggested on events calendar but walk-ins are welcome – Ages 5-10!
LULA’S BOOK CLUB – Lula will be taking a vacation in August.. Our next session will be Thursday, September 18th at 7 pm.…. ..Participants will partake in reading aloud followed by a group discussion. In addition to encouraging children to read more freely and without criticism, we hope to enhance reading comprehension and open dialogue, which can help improve reading fluency and promote a higher self-esteem! This program is intended for ages 5-11. Space will be limited. Registration will open up for this event in mid-August!!!
